FEPORT
As a result of European developments, it was found essential to create an organisation representing the interests of private port operators, i.e. stevedores and terminal operators, on a European level. This resulted in the foundation of FEPORT on January 13 1993, uniting national and regional representative associations of private port operators in the EU. In this way about 800 individual port operating companies are currently represented.
The objective of FEPORT is to inform and advise its members on European port-related matters, to discuss and formulate common points of view with regard to European policies and to serve as an interlocutor towards European policy makers.
FEPORT is a member of the Maritime Industries Forum (MIF) where it participates in the work of the short sea panel and the R & D Co-ordination Group.
FEPORT is currently presided by Jos M. Dekkers (Nl), Director Corporate Communications of the Rotterdam-based terminal operator ECT (Europe Combined Terminals). The federation is represented in Brussels through its Secretary General Patrick Verhoeven (B).
