Thematic Network to support European intermodal freight transport research
The Commission has in the last years enhanced the research effort within intermodal freight transport. EUTP deals with one of the important links in the intermodal transport chain i.e. the freight transfer points. EUTP aims at securing that consistency and co-ordination is obtained between the national and the European research effort in order to create synergy and avoid overlap.

EUTP provide organisational and technical support for the collection and analysis of information on strategies for Research and Technological Development (RTD) on intermodal freight transfer points and disseminate this to all relevant parties.

Ongoing and terminated national, European or international RTD projects dealing with transfer points are analysed and used as a contribution to the development of a future research approach in the field of intermodal freight transfer points (terminals, freight villages, etc.)

The outcome, in terms of an inventory, a comprehensive Internet based database and policy recomendations, can be used for policy-making purposes and to define lacks in the present national and European research effort.

The EUTP website will also be a starting point for all future information research on Intermodal Freight Transport Internet websites.
